How To Catch Sockpuppets

How To Catch SockpuppetsIf you own a blog that deals with controversial topics like conspiracy theories, government coverups, etc. you’ve gotten your share of debunkers, trolls and CoIntel Pro agents junking up your comment section. they’ll do anything they can to try and throw you off track, argue with you, try and make you look like a fool, call you a liar, a pedo, whatever it may be. Their main goal is to deface your blog and your reputation.

But as you know, the best way to make cockroaches run and hide is to turn the lights on, and here’s how to do that.

1. In wordpress, or any blog or forum software that records the commenters IP address, copy and paste that IP addy into a site like http://www.ip2Location.com/demo. It’ll give you all sorts of information about that IP address, including the GPS coordinates. Here’s an example of a random IP address from a spam comment I just deleted off this blog:

iplocationlatlong

2. Plug those GPS coordinates into Google Maps, Google Earth if you have it installed on your computer, or a site like http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html. At the itouchmap site, here’s what I got from the coordinates associated with the IP addy above:

latlongmap

Interesting, isn’t it? Of course, the above is just a random IP and results I used as an example, but if you want to arm yourself with a bit of data before accusing someone of being a government schill or sockpuppet, it helps to show them a satellite, or google streetview of the building they may be sitting in while schilling.

Don’t rely on this 100% though, because some of these idiots are starting to figure out how to use proxies and Tor to cover their tracks, but for the most part, drones who work off a script trying to deface your blog or forum are too stupid to cover their tracks.
